Dear customer:
We have different options depending on your situation.
Let’s start with the Trailer Eyes® P2P camera. This camera sends its video directly to your smartphone. If your phone or tablet is connected to the internet, you can see your place from anywhere at anytime. Best of all, this camera costs less than $150. This is certainly the camera everyone wants, but before you commit, please read through the Q&A to make sure your network can support the Trailer Eyes® P2P camera.
Trailer Eyes® P2P Camera Q&A
Q: What are the features of the Trailer Eyes® P2P camera?
A: Our indoor model, SP609, features color video image, night vision (black & white), zoom in and zoom out, snapshot and video recording. You can remotely pan & tilt the camera lens through your phone interface with your finger. If your bandwidth can support it, this model also has 2-way audio. However, SP609 is built for indoor use. The camera needs to be kept away from moisture and dust, and the operating temperature range is from 14° to 112°F. Our outdoor model, SP615, is weatherproof and is designed for harsher conditions, but it can’t tilt or pan and has no audio. Both models can add the booster antenna to increase the operating range.
Q: What are the Trailer Eyes® P2P camera requirements?
A: The camera mounting location needs a strong Wi-Fi connection. You need a smartphone running either iOS (Apple iPhone) or Android (Samsung, LG, Google etc.)
Q: How do I know if my wireless signal is strong enough to support the camera? How do I test it?
A: Make sure your smartphone is on your own router’s network (not on 3G, 4G, or another wireless network). Bring your smartphone to where you’d like to mount the camera. The phone will show you the strength of the signal. In order to have a steady connection, the camera requires at least 3 of 5 bars to function properly.
Q: What is the wireless range of my Wi-Fi router?
A: Depending on the router you are using, it could be anywhere from 50 to 1000 ft. The wireless N-type router and some newer routers have longer range.
Q: If my signal is weak, can I increase my router’s Wi-Fi range?
A: Yes, there are many router signal-booster devices available. An optional outdoor booster antenna can be attached to the Trailer Eyes® P2P camera. The antenna comes with an 18 ft. cable to connect to the camera, and once the antenna is mounted outside of your barn, the signal strength will greatly improve.
In conclusion, if you have a strong Wi-Fi connection in your barn, you can install the Trailer Eyes® P2P camera there. The following are additional questions we’ve received in the past:
Q: Is there an associated fee for using the Trailer Eyes® P2P camera?
A: We don’t charge any fee, and the smartphone app is free to download.
Q: How many cameras can I install in my place?
A: It depends on how much bandwidth you have. We do not recommend more than 8 cameras on one network.
Q: Where is the monitor?
A: Your phone or computer is the monitor for this camera.
Q: Can I use the system on a computer?
A: The Trailer Eyes® P2P camera supports Windows XP and Windows 7. It may not be compatible with other operating systems.
Q: Can you compare the Trailer Eyes® P2P camera with other security surveillance systems?
A: The Trailer Eyes® P2P camera costs less than a security surveillance camera system. You can install the camera by yourself, while a security camera requires professional installation. If you want to watch your kids, pets, horses, backyard or driveway casually, the Trailer Eyes® P2P camera is for you. If you need to catch a thief or require evidence for court, then a $2000,00 security system is what you need.
If there is no Wi-Fi at the place you’d like to install the camera, and the distance between the camera and monitor is less than 1200 ft., then the Trailer Eyes® 5.8 GHz. TE-0811 system is for you.

Wireless device performance varies depending on environmental conditions. These include obstacles such as metal siding, concrete, microwave interference, other wireless monitors, power lines, cell phone towers, and neighborhood density. All these factors can cause interference and reduce transmission distance. To overcome these obstacles, outdoor booster antennas can be attached to Trailer Eyes® barn cam systems. The camera systems are built with horse people and farmers in mind, and are designed for rural settings. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Thanks.
